What is a Booster Food and How Can You Incorporate Them Daily?

What is a booster food ?

A booster food is a nutrient dense foods that contain a ton of nutrition in a small package. These foods are rich in micro and phytonutrients, known for their therapeutic qualities and nutritional depth, and are an easy way to amp up the nutrition content of your meals!

The simplest way to add booster foods to your diet is through spices and herbs. You can easily incorporate these by adding spices and herbs to your meals and drinking herbal teas.

Spices and herbs provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties, and wonderful flavor to meals. By adding garlic, rosemary, and parsley to a meal, you have given yourself a boost of vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron, and other phytonutrients! So, by making your food taste better, you are actually giving yourself a vitamin and mineral boost.

Plus, the same old foods get boring day to day. With spices, you can add variety and depth to everyday meals. For instance, chicken can be bland and boring, but season it with BBQ seasoning, like the Cured Nutrition Smokey BBQ and you’ve got a totally different meal!

One of the things that is so exciting about the Cured Nutrition seasonings, is that they contain yet another component that makes them even more valuable. They are made with the booster foods, herbs and spices, while also containing 15 mg of Cannabidiol (CBD) in one teaspoon. CBD may also be considered a booster food for its healing qualities in the body. CBD has the potential to be used to increase energy, decrease worry, and relieve stress, which could lead to less inflammation in the body.

Looking for more booster foods that you can add to your diet? Check out some of my other favorite booster foods below:

Seaweed is the most mineral dense food in the world and a potent source of chlorophyll. It is especially great for thyroid function because it is a great source of iodine.

Bone and mineral broths are nourishing, calming, and grounding. They are packed with vitamins and minerals and bone broth is a great source of collagen. Collagen is nourishing to the gut, hair, skin, nails, and entire body.

Nutritional yeast is a cheesy tasting powder that can easily be added to meals. It is high in protein, B vitamins, chromium, and selenium.

Nuts and seeds are rich in essential fatty acids and are a good source of protein and fiber. Increase the nutritional value by sprouting before consuming. This increases bioavailability of nutrients and eases digestion.

Green tea is high in antioxidants, bioflavonoids, and the amino acid l-theanine. This amino acid is important because it provides a calming effect along with the caffeine in green tea, allowing you to be energized, but not jittery.
