Join your host Joseph Sheehey in today’s episode as he discusses how crucial it is to pay attention to the stories we tell ourselves on a daily basis. Believing in our true potential is one of the first steps on the path of fulfillment: that’s why it cannot be neglected. We need to work on getting familiar with our thoughts, feelings and actions and see if they correspond with what we think we can accomplish in life. If they don’t, something has got to change.
“Your potential in life is simply what you believe it to possibly be – and within that, it’s a story. It’s a story of what you believe you can do and it’s a story of what you truly believe to start with.” – Joseph Sheehey
The story we tell ourselves repeatedly can also be a reflection of stories we were told. Childhood experiences and past traumas have a direct effect on the way we treat ourselves in the present. For that reason, it’s important to have discernment about what is actually true in these stories and what is false because maybe they are not yours but someone else’s. Joseph also shares his thoughts on how this kind of self-talk has consequences on his role as a leader.
“The only way to achieve the potential that you want in your life is to tell yourself a different story and walk within that story every single day.” – Joseph Sheehey
