Savory Blackened Beef Brisket Sandwich & Lemon Pepper Garlic Coleslaw
CBD infused savory Blackened Beef Brisket. A favorite year-round dish that is delicious, full of protein, great as leftovers, and a crowd pleaser. A beef brisket cut is naturally a tougher meat. Although this is cooked for several hours to soften this tough cut of meat, make sure not to trim off too much of that fat which will act as a moisture insulation throughout the cooking. Salt. Cured Nutrition Blackening Spice has salt so we’re not adding any extra to this recipe. Searing/browning is also a key component in the moisture sealing for a brisket. Prior to placing in the crock pot, sear with the shallots in a separate pan.
STEP 1: Brisket Rub is a crucial step prior to searing the brisket. If you have the time, letting it marinate with the rub for an hour.
Beef Brisket Rub:
- 1 Tbsp Cured Blackening Spice
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
Step 2: Add mixture together in crock pot and turn crock pot on high. Meanwhile, sear your brisket in a separate pan with the shallots for 1 minute on each side. Place seared brisket in crock pot with mixture below.
Crock Pot Liquid Mixture:
- 2 C low sodium beef broth
- 1/4 C apple cider vinegar
- 1 chopped shallot
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 4 sprigs of fresh Thyme
STEP 3: Crock Pot: Slice shallots and place in base of slow-cooker/crock pot. After letting your brisket sit for 30 minutes with the rub, sear it in a separate pan just to brown and seal the sides and place it in the slow-cooker on high for 6-8 hours.
Dutch Oven: Pre-heat oven to 250. After caramelizing shallots briefly on stovetop, place dutch oven sealed with lid in oven for 5-6 hours.
Note: CBD burns off at 350. A crock pot temperature on the “high” setting will range from 190-250.
Homemade BBQ Sauce for basting after step #3:
- 1 Tbsp Cured Nutrition Blackening Spice
- 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
Step 4: Serving. Slice thinly and layer on a roll. Pair with the Cured Nutrition Lemon Pepper Garlic Coleslaw.

- 1/2 chopped or grated green cabbage
- 1/2 chopped or grated red cabbage
- 3 green onions chopped
- 2 carrots chopped
- 2 Tbsp Cured Organic Lemon Pepper & Garlic spice
- 2 Tbsp mayonaise
- 4 Tbsp apple cider vinnegar
