Going green, and getting back to the basics to achieve harmony and health.

There is no doubt about it, cannabis is going mainstream and nourish bowls are taking over urban menus nationwide.

This Nourishing Buddha Bowl is filled with wholesome, detoxifying and best of all absolutely delicious veggies and grains and topped with an incredible green goddess infused dressing!

By adding a serving of flavorful CBD to a nourish bowl (or a creamy bowl of mac & cheese when a comfort night calls) you are choosing to utilize mother nature and all of her wholeness to restore, relax, and rejuvenate your body.

No matter how busy one’s schedule is, one small act towards bettering yourself can make a big difference in helping to achieve a happy healthy life. And you my friend, deserve that!

Incorporating any of these nourishing changes into ones lifestyle is another way to encourage well-being and promote vitality:

LEMON WATER

Lemons have strong anti-viral, anti-bacterial and immune boosting properties. They contain vitamin C, citric acid, calcium, magnesium, pectin and bioflavonoids that cleanse the liver, aid in digestion and fight infection. It is best to drink first thing in the AM to flush the digestive system, PH balance the system, hydrate the lymph system and aid in weight loss

(lemon water is also a great replacement for morning coffee as it provides energy and can enhance one’s mood).

FERMENTED FOODS

Fermentation has become a lost appreciation. Fermented foods are very easy to make, in most health food stores, and popping up in the Whole Food Salad bar. There are several reasons why fermented foods should be included in the diet such as introducing beneficial bacteria into the digestive system and allowing the body to adjust nutrients better.

Fermented foods are very easy to make, extremely budget friendly way to include real foods, great alcohol alternatives, and a great way to preserve food. Fermented foods include Sauerkraut, Salsa, Pickles and Condiments. Fermented drinks such as Kombucha, Ginger Ale and Kefir are great alternatives to soda and have been used as substitutes to help people break their soda addictions.

DETOX FROM TECHNOLOGY

CBD

What took my personal health and well-being to the next level: experimenting with this plant’s healing powers. If you are new to the CBD world, welcome you’ve found the right spot!

Far beyond what the newest wellness magazines are saying, research reveals a close and dynamic relationship between CBD, the central nervous system, ECS (endocannabinoid system) and various neurotransmitters.

The ECS is a system of receptors found in the brain and body (bones, GI, skin, organs etc.). The ECS is intriguing and important because it is the body’s “master regulatory system.” It communicates and interacts with virtually all other bodily systems (CNS, organs, autoimmune system, GI tract etc.) to keep the body in a healthy and harmonies state of homeostasis.

CBD is not intoxicating (does not get you high), it can positively affect mood, acting on serotonin receptors (5HT1A), regulating GABA (involved in anxiety) and glutamate (an excitatory neurotransmitter), and more!

CBD interacts with many receptors found in the brain and body (CB1, CB2, 5HT1A, TRPV channels, other G coupled protein receptors etc.), research has found that CBD mainly interacts throughout the brain and body via the Endocannabinoid system.

It not only acts on the ECS and respective receptors, especially CB2 but also affects the systems that control the aforementioned neurotransmitters. CBD has, again, numerous of psychological benefits; research has revealed antidepressant, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, and general mood-regulating effects.

Despite the modern-day stigma that this healing plant such as cannabis and cannabinoids are just a hot trend right now, we can refer back to the scientific research, our own intuitive knowing, and the ancient civilization before us who used such plant medicines and have a lot of potential to help people all over the world, which is just one more reason to stay up-to-date on the science and policy surrounding this pretty miraculous plant!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry black rice
  • 2 cups water + 1 vegetable bouillon cube
  • 1 bunch lacinato (dinosaur) kale, stems removed and large pieces torn in half
  • 1 small kabocha squash, diced
  • 1-2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Roasted Garlic & Lemon Pepper
  • 1 tsp Smoky BBQ
  • Pinch of sea salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • Hemp Hearts
  • Sprouts (we like Clover and Alfalfa)

For the dressing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees (F). Toss the squash with Olive Oil and Smoky BBQ and place on a a greased baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until squash is soft yet slightly browned.
  2. While the squash is roasting, rinse the kale in cold water and massage until tender. Once dry, then sprinkle with sea salt and set aside.
  3. Meanwhile, as the squash cooks, prepare the rice by heating a medium saucepan over high heat. Once water is boiling, add rice, and vegetable bouillon cube and bring back to a boil, uncovered. Once boiling, reduce heat to low (simmer), cover, and cook for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water has completely absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork.
  4. Prepare the dressing by adding Olive Oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, Roasted Garlic & Lemon Pepper, salt, and honey to taste into a small mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
  5. To serve, divide the rice, chickpeas, and roasted squash, kale and sprouts between serving bowls. Top each bowl with sliced avocado, drizzle with green goddess sauce and sprinkle with Hemp Hearts. Add an additional squeeze of lemon juice and pinch of Roasted Garlic & Lemon Pepper spice if desired.
  6. Enjoy!
