Smoked Buffalo Chicken Wings with Cured CBD Smokey BBQ Spice

Normally, wings are not a meat that you’d think to smoke. You see them on just about every traditional American restaurant menu, however, chances are that they’re fried. Baking these at home is delicious but smoking them is a whole different gourmet ball game. They just happen to go perfectly with our Organic CBD Infused Smokey BBQ spice.

Step 1. Preparation: Choose your method! Smoker, Charcoal Grill or Gas Grill. Place your (soaked) wood chips in a foil box or smoker box for when your cooking method is hot. Rinse & paper-towel dry wings letting them come to room temperature. Coat with olive oil, salt & pepper.

CRISPY SKIN NOTE: Your sauce & Cured Nutrition Organic Smokey BBQ spice goes on after you smoke the wings. In order for them to obtain a crispy skin, coat in olive oil, salt and pepper only prior to smoking. CBD burns off at 350 degrees, however, it’s best to use as the ingredient in your final sauce.

Smoker:    Prepare your smoker in order to cook at 225-240 degrees. Prepare wood chips to smoke for up to 2 hours. place your soaked 3-4 Cups of wood chips in a piece of foil or a wood chip box. You should allow these to smoke between 1 1/2- 2 hours.

Charcoal Grill:   Light charcoals and let burn until coals are turning white and beginning to show ash. Once they are hot, place them in an organized pile on one side of grill & place your handful of wood chips in a wood chip box or foil next to the coals. We are placing these NEXT to the hot charcoals to avoid them from burning quickly & allowing for a longer slower cooking time while they slowly smoke. Place grate on grill and cover allowing the vent to be as far away from the charcoals as possible. This will create a smoke wave across the grill over the wings.

Gas Grill:    Prepare grill for medium-low indirect heat, leaving one or two burners off. Place wood chips in piece of foil wrapped with fold on the top and set over direct heat. Place your chicken wings on the opposite side of the wood chips where a burner is off. Have your grill stagger around 250-275 degrees. Flip the wings after about 30 min and cook for a total of 45-1 hour.

 Are they done?    Make sure the juices come out clear, not pink. Internal temperature should read approx. 160-170 degrees.

Step 2. Sauce: Choose your sauce! Smokey BBQ Buffalo, Blackened Sriracha Honey, or Smokey BBQ.

Smokey BBQ Buffalo-

  • 2 Tbsp Cured Nutrition Organic Smokey BBQ
  • 1/2 C Franks Redhot OR buffalo sauce
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3 tbsp  brown sugar

Smokey BBQ-

  • 2 Tbsp Cured Nutrition Organic Smokey BBQ
  • 4 tbsp worstichire
  • 3 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp -vinegar

Sriracha-Honey Smokey BBQ-

  • 2 Tbsp Cured Nutrition Organic Smokey BBQ
  • 4 Tbsp Sriracha
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

Step 3. Fry or Broil (optional): If you like them extra-crispy, after dunking in your sauce above, put on broil in oven for 3-5 minutes. 

Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese with a garnish of celery & carrots for a little gourmet touch!
