“How Much CBD Should I Take?”

Since there is no recommended dosage, the information presented on this page is intended to serve only as an informational guide – a starting point of reference – and should never be considered medical advice.

When it comes to cannabinoids, there is one universal truth to keep in mind:

Everyone Is Different

For people as well as pets, a recommended dosage of cannabis must be individually determined. Several factors come into play when determining the proper dosage to achieve the desired effect, including one’s overall health and endocannabinoid tone, which are influenced by diet, exercise, sleep patterns, day-to-day stress, and genetics.

While I wish I could provide you with a mathematical CBD dosage calculator, it isn’t quite that simple – very rough estimates are about as good as it gets.

Here are some variables to consider when dosing CBD:

Most people who are new to cannabidiol and are seeking out how to manage stress begin their journey by starting with the minimal suggested CBD oil dosage on any product for about a week, then gradually increasing the dose until they achieve the desired results. You’ll want to ensure that even the lowest dose will be well-tolerated before increasing the concentration.

Time of day: Optimizing one’s therapeutic use of cannabis may entail using products with different dosages at different times of the day – a lower dose of CBD for daylight hours, a higher dose of CBD at night. For example, a serving of our Cured Spices provides your body with 10mg of pure CBD, which is a great amount of CBD to receive a boost in energy and reduction of morning anxiousness. Unlike the Raw Full Spectrum Caps, which provides the body a larger dose of 30mg per capsule, this lower dose product would be an amazing addition to those who suffer from insomnia, night terrors, or other sleep problems. This product is used by many in the morning time to help fight off on-set anxiety. Again, each person responds differently to varied dosages.

Preventive Dosing: Prolonged low dose therapy (better known as micro-dosing) may be advantageous for managing chronic symptoms or to prevent onset anxiety. Preclinical studies indicate that cannabinoids have neuroprotective when taken in small dosages.

Reverse Tolerance: Worried that you may have taken CBD for “too long” that you will lessen its effect? Think again, my friend! Unlike its cousin THC, developing a tolerance to CBD is a very different process. Instead of developing a chemical tolerance, CBD users experience what’s known as a reverse tolerance. In the case of reverse tolerance, continued use of CBD actually results in a smaller dose being needed to achieve the same effects as time progresses. Compounds found in cannabis and hemp plants work closely with the endocannabinoid system by attaching themselves to endocannabinoid receptors, which promotes increased activity in these receptors cells. Meaning, CBD users don’t face a breakdown of the interaction that cannabidiol has within the endocannabinoid system, so it can stay continually active without diminishing its own effectiveness. This is one of the biggest distinguishing factors between hemp oil vs CBD oil. Many CBD users have reported using lower doses as time goes on because lower doses were ultimately needed to achieve the desired effects. Considering this, you can go ahead and take your daily CBD dose in a snack, sublingual, or sprinkled into your morning cup of coffee!

Common Side Effects:

Though pure CBD has been deemed a safe substance for the general population, potential side effects to keep in mind include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Gastrointestinal upset

Learn the Dosages of CBD Products:

CBD comes in seemingly endless forms, oils, edibles, spices, capsules, vapes, and even roll-ons. Each containing different concentrations of other phytocannabinoids, when one is determining what is the proper dosage to take, it comes down to looking closely at each CBD product.
